(Port) Wine of the month May 2020: Sandeman Vintage Port 1977

It is always sad to have an old Vintage Port bottle with TCA – the wine waits for decades to be dunk and then… Second bottle was perfect: Fully transparent fresh dark-red colour with intense reflections. Precise, but complex bouquet with honey, malt, white pepper and a hint residual red-berry fruit. Soft and creamy on the palate with malt, honey and pepper. An extremely nice sweetness completely balances the very good supporting acidity. Aftertaste is fresh and of medium length. Dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Queen Elisabeth’s coronation. 18/20
